Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials in Transport Aircraft Structures (AMTAS)
Location:
University of Washington, 220 Kane Hall; Seattle, WA
The Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials in Transport Aircraft Structures (AMTAS) is hosting the FAA Joint Advanced Materials and Structures (JAMS) Center of Excellence 2006 Technical Meeting.
This meeting will be the second annual technical peer review of the research in progress for JAMS. The purpose of this meeting is to showcase the JAMS research in composites, advanced structures and crashworthiness.
Attendees will be provided with background information on the research tasks prior to the meeting. The technical review will consist of presentations from the Principal Investigators in AMTAS and the Center of Excellence for Composites and Advanced Materials (CECAM), the two groups which make up JAMS and the FAA Materials and Structures Branch.
Professionals from the aviation community will also be presenting. This review will help JAMS and the FAA focus their research efforts appropriately to the needs of the aviation industry.
The objectives of this technical review are to:
- Review the research of the JAMS Center of Excellence and FAA Materials and Structures in composites, advanced structures and crashworthiness.
- Access current industry practice and compare that to the current research areas.
- Recommend additional research activities.
